Gravity Assist helped us raise the academic bar for virtual learning during COVID. Our weekly professional development opportunities with their highly-skilled teachers improved our after-school teaching capacity.

Andrea De La Paz
Woodcraft Rangers

I severely struggled... Nancy became a ritual in my academic routine. I am truly grateful... I now look forward to equations I need help with.

Aiel
11th Grade Student

Jay's work with my daughter has made math fun for her. She works at a high level and Jay's depth of knowledge in math is perfect for her college prep.

Mary K
Parent of a 12th Grader

This year was extremely challenging for our students emotionally and academically. With Gravity Assist’s guidance, their teachers were able to quickly connect with students, identify emotional challenges and help create systems that made our most vulnerable students successful.

Coach Rock
Southeast Highschool LAAAE

Jay's been wonderful for her in that his mellow approach has helped. He also seems to have an easy way of explaining things.

Kathleen R
Parent of a 9th grader

Jay is my lifesaver. He was understanding of my situation and extremely patient with both myself and my children.

Mike S
Parent of a 10th grader

To my surprise, my son began to schedule his own tutoring sessions and completing work on his own! This is beyond anything I could have asked for in a tutor. This demonstrated an understanding of how to work to change a student’s mindset to take more initiative and control in their own life and education.

Parent of an 11th grader

Real-World Heroes. Not Just Tutors.

We don't hire "homework helpers." We hire mentors who have lived the subjects they teach. Our team includes NASA scientists, Emmy Award-winning producers, and veteran High School Principals. We match your student with a mentor who hasn't just studied the path—they've walked it.

🚀 The Scientists: Mentors from NASA & Research Labs who don't just teach physics—they apply it.

🎬 The Storytellers: Emmy-Award Winning Producers who teach creative writing and narrative structure.

🏫 The Educators: Former High School Principals & Phenomenal Classroom Teachers who know the system inside out.

Why "Gravity Assist"?

In 1977, NASA launched Voyager 1 and 2 to take advantage of a rare four-planet alignment that only occurs once every 175 years. Using the basic laws of physics, scientists realized they could use a "gravity assist"—using each planet's gravitational pull as a slingshot to propel the probes to Uranus, Neptune, and then beyond the edges of the solar system.

We are all on our own paths toward a vast unknown. Given the right team, approaches, and tools, each of us can experience that same slingshot toward a limitless future.

Gravity Assist is the support system to help you reach those faraway goals, to guide you through the high points and rough patches, to push you when you need that extra burst of energy - then cheer you on as you fly into orbit.

What is Gravity Assist US?

Gravity Assist US is a full-service education organization with over 20 years of experience. We provide three main services:

Expert one-on-one tutoring for students.

Custom enrichment programs for schools and organizations.

What makes your approach different?

We believe in a personalized, mentor-driven process. Whether for tutoring or our online courses, we first diagnose the core challenge, then build a personalized roadmap to mastery. We don't just teach subjects; we teach our students how to learn, build confidence, and achieve their goals.

Who are your tutors and instructors?

Our team is our greatest asset. They are a diverse group of passionate, expert educators, credentialed teachers, and industry professionals. We hire people who are not only masters of their subject but are also skilled mentors who know how to connect with and inspire students.

For Parents & Students (Tutoring)

How does the tutoring process work?

It starts with a free consultation with our founder, Jay, to discuss your child's specific needs. From there, we match your child with the perfect tutor. The sessions are held online via a secure video platform with a shared digital whiteboard.

What subjects do you offer tutoring in?

We cover just about everything for grades 8-12, including:

All levels of Math (from Algebra 1 to AP Calculus)

All levels of Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)

English & Writing (including college essay prep)

History & Social Sciences

Spanish & French

Standardized Test Prep (SAT, ACT, AP, High School Entrance Exams)

Computer Science

How are tutors selected and vetted?

Our tutors are carefully vetted and have extensive expertise in their subject areas. More importantly, they are selected for their passion for teaching and their ability to build a supportive, engaging learning environment for your child.

Can I customize the tutoring schedule?

Yes. We offer flexible scheduling to fit your availability, ensuring that learning fits seamlessly into your family's busy routine.

For Schools & Organizations (Partnerships)

What kind of custom programs do you create?

We work with administrations and teachers to design and implement programs that meet your specific institutional targets. This can range from after-school STEM enrichment and project-based learning to professional development workshops for your teaching staff.

How do you integrate with our school's existing curriculum?

Our goal is to support, not replace. We analyze your current student data and curriculum to design a "customized blueprint" that complements your teachers' work and helps achieve your school's broader goals for student engagement and academic success.
